What the Bible Says About Wisdom
The book of Proverbs establishes that "the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10). This foundational principle means that wisdom starts with reverence for God, recognizing His authority and aligning our lives with His truth. Without this foundation, we may acquire knowledge and skill, but we lack the wisdom that leads to true success and fulfillment.
James contrasts earthly wisdom with wisdom from heaven. Earthly wisdom is characterized by selfish ambition and envy, leading to disorder and evil. In contrast, heavenly wisdom is "first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere" (James 3:17). God's wisdom produces righteousness, peace, and fruitfulness in our lives and relationships.

James 1:5
